I just assumed that the “soulmate” thing was an anomaly — a new age term coined to describe the rare connection between two people beamed down from the planet Woo Woo, destined to find each other through magical attraction love beams. Finding the person who will still make your heart go pitter patter 10, 20, or 30 years down the road does involve a little luck and chemistry, but mostly it involves knowing yourself, who you're looking for, and some basic prerequisites for any successful relationship. If you have low emotional intelligence, or you don't know what it is, today is the best time to start working on it.
Emotional intelligence is a set of skills that include control of your impulses, self-motivation, empathy and social competence in interpersonal relationships.
It’s not as if I was reading these articles searching for visual inspiration or dress ideas. If all of these people in the NYT, of all different ages, ethnicities, shapes and beliefs could find love after loss, in the face of adversity, or at a corner café, then surely I could, too.
These stories served as my beacon of light and possibility.
Not all soulmates are made of the feel good “we fell in love the moment our eyes met and are going to love each other till the end of time” kind.
There are many other types of soulmates, ones who come in solely for the purpose of teaching us something, some to break apart our life and redirect us to somewhere different and some who pass us for the briefest of moments, yet tug on our hearts as if we’ve known them a lifetime.

Dating looks different when you use spiritual principle.
When youre trusting, you believe that you will meet your soulmate in a fashion thats right for you, so you dont have to do back flips to try and meet him (or keep him, for that matter).
It ceases to be such a crazymaking, difficult period. You dont have to make it fit, if the chemistry isnt there. And you dont have to worry you will miss your life partner or repel the object of your desires.
Theres nothing you can do to miss your soulmate or turn him off (otherwise, he wouldnt be your soulmate).
These are some of the soulmates I’ve encountered in mine (except the last one), all of them captivating, memorable and absolutely necessary to my soul’s growth: 1) Sometimes we meet a person and just click from the moment we lay eyes on each other.
It’s as if we’ve known them our entire life, even if we’ve only known them a few minutes. You could talk to this person for hours on end and never get bored.
